Melissa fell in love with Savannah when she came to the “hostess city” for a long weekend, as many of our visitors do. A native of St. Simons Island, Georgia, Melissa has always felt at home on the coast, but when she visited Savannah as a college student, she knew she had to stay. For the same reasons she identifies with falling in love with Savannah, Melissa enjoys helping other make this wonderful city their home as well.
After attending North Georgia College & State University, she graduated with honors from Armstrong Atlantic State University with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. She completed her student teaching through AASU and taught elementary school for six years at Charles Ellis Montessori Academy. For the past 4 years Melissa has focused on high-end residential and commercial real estate.
In her spare time, Melissa designs vintage jewelry for her company, Melissa Rowan Designs. She also enjoys tennis, boating, traveling and yoga. She and her family are members of the Historic Savannah Foundation and the Savannah Yacht Club. In addition, they support numerous local organizations including Chatham Academy, SCAD, Junior Achievement, the Telfair Museum, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Davenport House and Savannah Country Day School. Melissa resides in her favorite part of town, the Landmark Historic District with her husband John Paul Rowan and daughter Sassy Hall and son Wilde Rowan.
